THAMESIDE AVIATION MUSEUM 1st October 2004 Today I visited St James's Church Greenstead Green, Halstead, Essex. Today is the 60th anniversary to the day 2nd Lt Dwight Garrison Belt was killed flying his P.47 Thunderbolt. As I parked outside the church I was lucky enough to meet a lady who was putting floral decoration in the Church for this Sundays Harvest Festival, I was invited in to lay one of our two tributes to Dwight Belt, one on his Plaque and one at the crash site. I was told that every week flowers are laid at his plaque and this has been carried out since the erection of the plaque in 1978. below are a few pictures from Greenstead Green, the church and crash site Colin Wingrave 1st October 2004 |
