Product Function:

Ferrosol is a high quality lubricant designed to penetrate close tolerances, free rusted together parts, displace water, restore electrical circuits and provide corrosion protection. Ferrosol contains no silicone, ptfe, molybdenum disulphide, or chlorinated solvents. Ferrosol is safe to use in automotive body shops where silicone-containing fluids cause paint defects. Ferrosol contains unique molecules which, when subject to friction, bond electrochemically to metal surfaces providing an effective barrier to wear, independent laboratory tests confirm Ferrosol's ability to massively outperform competing products. So significant is Ferrosol's anti-wear ability that the product is ideal for use in drilling, tapping and reaming where its use will prolong tool life.

Ferrosol proves invaluable in applications where its extreme pressure capabilities and low surface tension allow it to penetrate and lubricate otherwise difficult to reach moving parts. As an example injection mould ejector pins will show a great resistance to wear and binding when lubricated with Ferrosol thus reducing expensive downtime. Ferrosol provides excellent protection against wear and corrosion to hundreds of moving

parts in automobiles and other vehicles.

Heavy industrial uses such a winches, chains and load bearing pivots and unions can be lubricated easily with Ferrosol: these high stress applications are historically deemed inappropriate for other penetrative lubricants, Ferrosol will continue to lubricate even when the visible oil film has gone.

 

How to Use:

Aerosol format Ferrosol provides the most convenient application method; the straw provided allows accurate application to the target surfaces. Bulk supplied Ferrosol should be decanted into suitable atomiser pump containers or smaller tins. Open topped tins will allow the application of Ferrosol by brush or dipping of components.

Ferrosol should be applied liberally to surfaces contaminated by water the initial displacement occurs rapidly. The residual Ferrosol film will provide excellent anti-corrosion properties, and can be easily removed by mild solvents at a later date if necessary. Isolate electrical equipment or components before treatment.

Ferrosol can be used to clean gums, adhesive materials, wax and tar from many surfaces including most automotive finishes the product should be applied to offending mark left for 10-20 seconds and removed gently with a soft cotton cloth.

For use as a metal working lubricant Ferrosol should be applied frequently to the work piece and tool.

To lubricate apply Ferrosol liberally and allow to penetrate.

To undo rusted and frozen components Ferrosol should be allowed to soak in for a few minutes, rusted nuts and bolts should have a tightening force applied before undoing this will "crack" the rusted interface.

Always follow equipment manufacturers lubrication advice when lubricating equipment and machinery.

deox-C

concentrated rust remover

Product Function:

Deox-C is a crystalline, 100% active corrosion removal product. Formulated for the removal of corrosion products from steel, stainless steel and most ferrous materials (see Precautions below). This product is dissolved in tap water to produce a bath of powerful rust removing liquid. Use of Deox-C will eliminate the risk of distortion to thin steel sections, which can result from the blast-cleaning process. Unlike abrasive cleaning methods such as grinding, sanding or blast-cleaning Deox-C will not remove sound steel surrounding corroded areas. The risk of grit inclusion resultant from blast-cleaning, proven to cause early coating failure, corrosion and mechanical wear, is eliminated. Slag-based blast cleaning media all contain heavy metals which when used in open-nozzle blast-cleaning equipment liberate dust that may contain harmful levels of these elements.

 

Deox-C is harmless, non-flammable, does not emit toxic vapours, it's biodegradable and will not damage the environment. However Deox-C will sting skin abrasions and cuts. Wash with plenty of running clean water after skin contact. If hands are to be submerged for long periods rubber gloves should be used. In case of contact with eyes wash with plenty of running water and seek medical advice.

This product must be dissolved in water before use, it is suggested that hot tap water and stirring are used to speed dissolution; the resultant solution will be water-clear. The strength of the solution may be varied from 5% to 20% by weight or volume of Deox-C to water:

How to Use:

It should be noted that a 5% solution is very effective even for heavy corrosion removal and allows the economical production of sufficient quantities of liquid to submerge large objects. Always test Deox-C at low addition rates it is often surprising to individuals that Deox-C can do its job at these low rates. Increasing solution strength up to 20% will remove very heavy corrosion and increase the bath's useful life, i.e. for prolonged repeated use.

Plastic, and stainless steel vessels are suitable for holding the prepared liquid. Steel and galvanised steel should not be used. Commonly available, useful, containers include: buckets, plastic dustbins, domestic water-storage tanks, etc.

Remove any very loose corrosion, oil, grease and dirt before immersion. Grease and oil will prevent successful treatment. Whilst Deox-C will remove very heavy corrosion it is preferable to remove loose corrosion mechanically to prolong the activity of Deox-C

To increase treatment speed items should be removed from the solution occasionally; rust which appears to be still attached to the surfaces can be very easily brushed away using a stiff plastic-bristled, or wire-brush. Continue immersion until a clean rust-free surface is achieved. Prolonged soaking (+72hrs) may be required for very heavy corrosion especially at low temperatures. Remember to remove the article periodically to remove any surface build-up, this will help to keep the active Deox-C solution at the work face.

Very rapid corrosion removal is possible by heating the solution to 70oC Max (with, for example, suitable immersion heaters). Slow results will occur with temperatures at around 10oC. For hot tank applications it is preferable to prevent evaporation by using a loose fitting lid. When using hot-tanks check item hourly.

Rinse treated items with clean water; it maybe necessary to agitate the surface with a stiff brush to remove debris accumulated in pits that were caused by corrosion. Dry surface after the rinsing process

If it is not intended to re-paint the item immediately, treat with a water displacing protective fluid such a Bilt-Hamber Ferrosol, or allow Deox-C to dry on the surface; this will provide a temporary yellowish protective film that can be removed subsequently by re-immersion into Deox-C for 1-2 minutes.

Deox-C baths will change colour as corrosion is removed, once the solution is saturated (very dark yellow / black) the rust removal capabilities will be exhausted.

Precautions:

Deox-C is formulated to remove corrosion without aggression to underlying sound material and can therefore be used successfully to derust extremely delicate items. However for such delicate or close tolerance items check progress frequently and remove when surfaces are clear of rust. A coating of water resistant grease or petroleum jelly can be used to protect machined surfaces whilst rust removal is in progress on other areas of the same object - check frequently.

Always submerge for at least 24 hours a sample or small non-essential area of any metal or casting to ensure suitability of material for treatment before full immersion of the entire object, and ensure that shaped articles do not contain vulnerable materials. Certain metals, including zinc, lead, tin, and alloys containing those metals, should not be immersed.

deox-GEL

gelled rust remover

Product Function:

Deox-Gel is a viscous rust remover designed for corrosion removal on surfaces or objects too large to submerge in a bath of Deox-C. Along with the viscosity builders and preservatives the active agents in Deox-Gel are harmless, non-toxic and biodegradable.

How to Use:

It is always preferable where possible to soak items in a bath of Deox-C, as the active materials in solution are always available in large quantities and can be left to remove corrosion products with little or no attention. Deox-Gel requires a hands-on approach. However where soaking is not viable Deox-Gel does allow complete corrosion removal.

The area to be treated should be wire-brushed or abraded with abrasive paper or wheel.

Thoroughly degrease using mineral spirits (white spirit) or other solvent.

Wash area with hot soapy water and wipe dry.

Apply a thick coat of Deox-Gel and leave for 30 - 120 + minutes. Do not allow GEL to dry unless strictly following the below instructions*.

Vigorously wire-brush or preferably use a Scotch-Brite (abrasive pad) to agitate the area while gel is in situ.

Wash with clean water or wipe with damp lint-free cloth ensure surface is completely free of gel residue.

If corrosion remains repeat steps 3 onwards.

*If leaving Deox-GEL for long periods of up to 8 hours for removing heavy corrosion it is essential that every trace of the dried residue is removed by washing in plenty of hot water in conjunction with a stiff plastic-bristled brush. Do not attempt to remove the residue with abrasives or mechanical methods, as embedment of the residue will occur.

Wash equipment in running water.

After Treatment:

Derusted items should be treated immediately with a water-displacing fluid such a Bilt-Hamber Ferrosol, or painted. Bilt-Hamber's water based Hydrate 80 is an ideal first coat to be applied to a Deox-Gel treated surface, this active material effectively passivates steel surfaces providing excellent long term anti-corrosion properties.

etchweld

self-etching weld-through primer

Product Function:

Etchweld is a single pack high-performance self-etching primer that provides ultra-high levels of adhesion to steel substrates. Etchweld protects surfaces from corrosion and promotes superb adhesion for an enormous range of intermediate and topcoats, even increasing the durability of powder coating. Etchweld can be used on some non-metallic substrates but tests should be conducted before use. Etchweld can be used as an adhesion promoter for 2 pack fillers, putties and stoppers. Unlike other etch primers etchweld also provides a weld-through function.

During the assembly of complex steel structures such a vehicle bodywork, it is almost unavoidable to use welded seams - often spot welded flanges or folded edges come together so that two bare steel surface are fixed together totally unprotected from corrosive elements. These seams have been proven to be the first sites to corrode in vehicle bodywork.

Etchweld is designed to allow any steel surfaces to be protected before assembly, in other words even surfaces destined to be spot welded face-to-face can be painted. Unlike other weld-through primers, which have poor adhesion levels, etchweld combines superb adhesion with exceptional weld through characteristics. Etchweld protected steel provides stable arc conditions for MIG and TIG welding and excellent spot-weld performance. Etchweld exhibits minimal burn-back from the weld-zone and will continue to protect against corrosion once assembly is complete.

Etchweld will also provide high levels of adhesion for coatings applied to non-ferrous substrates such as aluminium and zinc treated surfaces. Etchweld is free of heavy metals and chromates.

How to Use:

Always shake the can vigorously for 2 minutes before use.

WELD-THROUGH

Ensure that the surfaces are clean and free of contaminants such as corrosion, grease, oil, and paint. Where etchweld is to remain uncoated in weld-through applications such as face-to-face flanges two light coats applied at a distance of around 25 cm are recommended at 7 - 10 minute intervals. Before welding it is important to ensure that full flash-off of solvents has occurred - at an ambient temperature of 200C 1 hour is sufficient, in cold conditions allow up to 3 hours. Etchweld can be MIG, TIG, ARC or gas welded. To ensure instant and perfect welds when using spot welding equipment clamp components together initially using clamping equipment such as quick release welder's clamps, mole grips or g-cramps etc. Ensure welder setting is adjusted by testing on scrap steel of identical gauge as the work-piece. Mig welders should be set to produce an even, constant arc, spitting unstable arc is indicative of too high wire speed and can be eliminated by adjustment. After assembly of hollow sections seal seams with seam sealer or further paint coatings, internal sections should be wax injected.

 

ETCH PRIMER Adhesion promoter for: Cellulose, synthetic, two-pack, water borne, water based, stoving enamel, powder coat, alkyd etc

Etchweld should be applied as a uniform coating at around 25cm from the degreased, clean surface, and normally allowed to cure for a period of 15 to 30 minutes before over coating, shorter times are acceptable when using most top coats, however for thick film coatings allow up to 1 hour before top coat application. Etchweld will continue to chemically anchor to the substrate under paint films for periods of up to 3 hours. As with any paint system it is good practice to test paint systems at small scale before use.

Etch weld aerosol system enables the use of interchangeable spray heads, spray heads are available for ultra-fine, wide angle and long distance application. Nozzles provided as no cost options.
